Mario Kart 7

Proof Requirements

Proof is required for all records that make any of the top 10s on the site.

  • A player must show a video that contains the entire run, from the start of the countdown, to crossing the finish line with the end time visible, either live, or by selecting "View Replay" directly after completing a run (the 3rd person replay on CTGP is allowed).
  • BOTH screens must be fully visible in the video during the run.
  • If the video is recorded from the first person perspective, the full kart build (Kart, Wheels, and Character) must be visible at some point. A player can provide an additional picture of the splits screen with both screens and the Kart build fully visible to fulfill this criteria.
  • Authentic game audio must be present for the entire duration of the run.
  • The timer should be in frame and fully readable for the entire duration of the run.
  • The video should contain no cuts during the run.
  • Using DarkFlare's live replay code does not count as proof.
  • To disprove the use of an emulator, the player MUST be sure to include one of the following forms of proof:
    • A picture of the 3ds/2ds itself, showing the top and bottom screen on the splits screen, showing other parts of the 3ds/2ds, such as any lights, buttons, etc (not just the screens), OR:
    • The video provided should show other parts of the 3ds/2ds, such as any lights, buttons, etc (not just the screens).
  • Times set on CTGP are allowed, but must adhere to the following guidelines (From the CTGP-7 Menu):
    • Gameplay Features > CC Selector (Disabled)
    • Gameplay Features > Speedometer (Disabled)
    • Gameplay Features > Backwards Camera (Disabled)
    • Game Settings > Custom Karts (Disabled)
    • Additionally, players must not use any custom characters provided with CTGP-7, any of their own custom characters, vehicle parts, music, track textures, or any modifications to the bottom screen, such as custom character icons.
  • On top of all the above requirements, a player may ALSO be asked to complete this protocol to prove their ghost completes the track. Completing the protocol by itself does not validate a time's legitimacy, a player must still provide a video that follows the above criteria; the protocol is an additional request that should be fulfilled in case of doubt. In the rare case that there remains any doubt over a player's legitimacy after completing the protocol, they may be asked to livestream attempts.

Q&A

Why doesn't the protocol/ghost sharing/DarkFlare's live replay code constitute as proof?

None of those methods prove or disprove the use of custom modifications (textures, music, speedometer etc). These methods also do not prove whether a time was set on an emulator or not, as a ghost set on an emulator can function properly when operated on a Nintendo console. It isn't enough to satisfy the rules; a player must always record the replay of the run.

I didn't record my run after I set it. Can it still be accepted?

No. (Refer to the previous question)

When would we ask a player to complete a protocol?

A player may be asked to protocol or share their ghost if they are suspected of cc or .szs modifications (speed hacks or track modifications). In the case of a ghost not being saved due to racing a ghost faster than the set time, these protocol options are void.

Can I edit music into my video?

If a player wants to make an edited version of the video, they are allowed to do so. However, a player must provide a non-edited video of the run that adheres to the rules listed under Proof requirements for the updaters to review.
